From Blog to Design Services
Destination Eichler started as a design blog for homeowners Karen Nepacena and John Shum to chronicle their journey renovating a mid-century modern Eichler home in Northern California. Their home renovation projects and blog gained attention and soon the couple began taking on clients who were attracted to their modern design aesthetic and focus on mid-century modern architecture. Fast-forward a few years, Destination Eichler transitioned from an online blog into a full service interior design firm helping homeowners visualize and transform their homes.
Destination Eichler, LLC offers interior design services, from furniture and accessory selection and color consultation, to design concept creation (2D/3D renderings) and full home renovation/restoration consultation services.
Designer Karen Nepacena’s design philosophy centers around creating a functional, pleasing space, that reflects each client’s individualism. With each project, she translates client needs into a clear transformation plan. Karen’s time living abroad and studying Interior Design in Italy greatly influences her work and aesthetic, whether designing for mid-century modern homes or Spanish style bungalows.
John and Karen are creative entrepreneurs at heart, from running a successful husband-and-wife Photography studio, creating and managing a handbag design/manufacturing business, to curating several online resources for groups they are passionate about: DIY home renovation and food allergy awareness. While Karen leads the design process, John manages studio operations and marketing. They reside in Northern California with their two sons and enjoy sharing their passion for mid-century modern design, DIY renovation, and home interiors. Both hold Bachelors degrees from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
