3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, Denmark with Warm Nordic

Sometime in May, I received an email from Frantz Longhi — the Owner of Warm Nordic and the Paustian store in Copenhagen, Denmark — inviting me to take part in the 3 Days of Design Event. He had viewed a podcast/IG Live that I had participated in with my online friend Marco Guagliardo at Mid-Century Home and was interested in my take on Danish Design and California Modernism. In his email, he asked if I would like to come to Copenhagen to be a part of their speaker series, including Marco, plus Dominic Bradbury, author of a number of architecture and design books including his newest, Mid-Century Modern Designers.

I had to re-read the email a few times. Me. Come to Denmark? To participate in a unique design-focused event that happens in Copenhagen? Next month? It did not take much for me to clear my schedule with a resounding “YES I’d be honored!”

Here are a few photos and highlights of my visit to the inspiring Paustian store, a few of my speaking points from the presentation itself (thank you Olivia for helping me design the powerpoint presentation!) and some of the handcrafted Warm Nordic pieces that were created especially for 3 Days of Design. If you haven’t heard about Warm Nordic, visit their website to learn more (or if you are in Europe, check them out at the Paustian store or other retailers).

I admire that Frantz Longhi has brought back to life a number of notable Danish furniture designs, in close collaboration with the designers’ families. These lines and pieces are a beautiful blend of classic design, paired with fresh colors and materials. I feel that we share a similar design ethos when we design for clients — honoring the original, while integrating a fresh, timeless edge to design.

During my visit to the store, Frantz enthusiastically toured me through their exhibition on Warm Nordic and gave me the history behind designer Hans Olsen and many others. A big, huge thank you to Frantz, Liv, and the Warm Nordic team for such a genuine, warm welcome and giving me the opportunity to be a part of this special event. This visit and experience will forever live in my memory!
